Temitope Balogun Joshua is an anointed Nigerian preacher and a popular tele-evangelist who is very well known for the gift of prophesies for individuals, nations and the whole world. He is also very gifted with the power to perform amazing miracles, healings and deliverances in the name of Jesus Christ. He extensively speaks from his base at SCOAN in Lagos Nigeria on issues of love, faith, healing, breaking of curses and covenants, and deliverance. His church meetings and crusades attract crowds that number in hundreds of thousands, and spectacular moves of the power of God resulting in extraordinary miracles of healing and deliverances from demonic spirits. T.B. Joshua is just one of those who have submitted to the will of God. He acknowledges that if God had chosen works rather than grace, no one would merit His mercy.

Born on June 12th 1963, TB Joshua grew up from a very poor family in a small village of Arigidi in Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria.  His mother’s pregnancy period was extraordinary, as the baby Joshua remained in her womb for 15 months delivery. Almost a hundred years before he was born, it had been prophesied that a young man would rise from that family and that God would use him mightily. Significantly, a large boulder crashed through the roof of his house, when he was just 3 days old, missing the baby by mere inches. This incident led to his mother naming him, ‘Temitope’, meaning, ‘what you (God) have done for me is worthy of thanks’.

TB Joshua, who was known as Balogun Francis had his early education at St. Stephen's Anglican Primary School in Arigidi-Akoko, Nigeria between 1971 and 1977, but was not privileged to complete one year of secondary school education. After his education had stopped, he worked in various part-time jobs including packing poultry farm waste. He will hold Bible studies for local children and attended evening school during this period. Joshua was on his way to join the Nigerian military but was prevented when the train broke down and left him stranded en route to the military academy. During his early education, he demonstrated spirituality and leadership at St. Stephen’s Anglican primary school, Arigidi, where he led the Student Christian fellowship, as their “small pastor”.

The Call
“I was in a trance for three consecutive days, and then I saw a hand that pointed a Bible to my heart and the Bible entered my heart… I heard a voice saying, I am your God; I am giving you a divine commission to go and carry out the work of the Heavenly Father… The same voice said to me, “I would show you the wonderful ways, I would reveal myself through you, in teaching, preaching, miracles, signs and wonders for the salvation of souls”. Since then, I have been receiving in my vision, every year according to my faithfulness to God, a bigger cross that means to me more responsibilities.

Following this, Prophet TB Joshua founded The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN) with only a handful of members; 8 people in all. According to the organisation, more than 15,000 members attend its weekly Sunday service; visitors from outside Nigeria are accommodated in the accommodation blocks constructed at the church.

Amongst some of the organs of his ministry are the SCOAN, Emmanuel TV television station from Lagos, My People Football Club and many philanthropy projects especially for the less privileged and physically challenged people living in Lagos, across the country and all over the world. Prophet TB Joshua is a deserved recipient of various awards /accolades including the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) 2008, by the government of Nigeria and being nominated the Yoruba man of the decade by Pan-Yoruba media outlet Irohin-Odua. He was recognised as one of Africa's 50 most influential people by Pan-African magazines 'The Africa Report' and 'New African Magazine' and listed among the most famous people in the world.

Prophet TB Joshua is noted for his popularity across Africa and his online presence, with over 1,500,000 Facebook fans and hundreds of YouTube videos which has generated millions of views. In 2011, according to Forbes, Joshua was Nigeria’s third-richest pastor. Despite his worldwide popularity, TB Joshua has only a branch of his ministry in Ghana, pointing out that "it is not yet time" for him to have branches across the world as that will be too much for his type of person.

Obviously, Prophet T.B. Joshua has seen much, full of troubles and hurdles, but he has always had an unseen hand of God intervening in all his affairs. In every circumstance, he has remained resolute on what God has to say.

He is married to Evelyn Joshua and they are blessed with three children. His eldest daughter Sarah Joshua has graduated from the London School of Economics, Department of Law.
